Rays sweep Yankees to reach the ALCS behind dominant pitching
Tampa Bay held New York to five runs in three games and won Game 3 4-3 at Yankee Stadium, extending the Yankees' title drought to 17 years.

The Tampa Bay Rays swept the New York Yankees out of the American League Division Series and are headed to the ALCS.
A near no-hitter to start
Drew Rasmussen set the tone in Game 1. He carried a no-hit bid into the eighth inning, struck out 10 and worked eight innings. Jonathan Aranda's solo homer was the only run in a 1-0 win. New York had one hit, the first time the Yankees were held to one hit in 447 postseason games.
Closing it out in the Bronx
Tampa Bay won Game 2 5-2 and finished the job with a 4-3 win in Game 3. Ryan Vilade homered and Victor Mesa Jr. hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the sixth inning.
New York thought it had tied the game late on an apparent Anthony Volpe homer, but a review for fan interference took it away. Bryan Baker closed out the ninth.
The loss stretches the Yankees' championship drought to 17 years.
