Rangers put goalie James Reimer on waivers after just one start
The New York Rangers placed goalie James Reimer on waivers Thursday after one start as Joonas Korpisalo nears a return and Dylan Garand holds the crease.

James Reimer's stay with the New York Rangers lasted one look.
The Rangers placed the veteran goalie on waivers Thursday after he made just one start for the club.
New York signed Reimer earlier this season hoping he could spell Dylan Garand. Garand had been playing almost nonstop after franchise starter Igor Shesterkin was lost for the season with a knee injury.
The carousel keeps spinning
Reimer struggled in his only chance. Garand has since started 11 straight games.
After a strong opening stretch with a 1.85 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage in his first six starts Garand has slipped to a 3.50 GAA and .877 save percentage over his past five.
Korpisalo is close
Putting Reimer on waivers now points to Joonas Korpisalo nearing a return from a lower-body injury. Korpisalo stopped 34 of 37 shots in a Hartford Wolf Pack rehab start Wednesday night.
Korpisalo's early-season injury set the carousel in motion. The Rangers acquired him from Boston in the summer to back up Shesterkin. Garand cleared waivers before opening night to play regularly in Hartford then was recalled when Korpisalo went down and became the go-to option when Shesterkin was lost.
