Orioles decline Luis Robert Jr.'s $20 million option after a three-game stint in Baltimore
Baltimore declined outfielder Luis Robert Jr.'s $20 million club option for 2027 on Saturday. He played only three games for the Orioles after a waiver claim.

Luis Robert Jr.'s short stay in Baltimore is over. The Orioles declined the outfielder's $20 million club option for 2027 on Saturday.
Baltimore claimed Robert off waivers from the New York Mets on Aug. 31. The claim meant taking on about $4.9 million. That covered the rest of his 2026 salary plus a $2 million buyout of next year's option.
The Chicago White Sox had picked up his $20 million option for 2026. They then traded him to the Mets last offseason.
Three games and an injury
Robert played only three games for the Orioles before a hamstring problem sent him to the injured list.
He has struggled to get back to the form that made him an All-Star in 2023. This season he hit .221 with 11 home runs and 26 RBIs in 61 games.
More roster moves
The Orioles made several other moves on Saturday. Right-hander Albert Suarez and infielder Jose Barrero cleared waivers and chose free agency.
Right-hander Codi Heuer accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk. Right-hander Colin Selby was also sent to Norfolk.
