Philadelphia finally got to hear its new starting lineup announced at home.

LeBron James played his first game at Xfinity Mobile Arena as a 76er on Friday night alongside Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The Sixers lost their preseason finale 125-120 in overtime to a Boston Celtics team that rested its regular starters. The score mattered less than the chemistry with the regular season days away.

James plays facilitator

James finished with eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists in about 25 minutes. He was happy to set up teammates, especially Maxey. In the first quarter James jumped a Boston inbound pass, took off down the floor and finished an alley-oop from Maxey that brought the crowd to its feet. Later he grabbed a rebound and hit a streaking Maxey in stride for a layup.

Maxey, a longtime workout partner of James, played a big part in Philadelphia landing him this offseason. He finished with 22 points and six assists.

Embiid bounces back

Embiid shook off an eight-turnover preseason debut against the Brooklyn Nets. He looked healthy running the floor and scored 27 points with eight rebounds. He had 16 points by halftime and got to the free-throw line nine times in the first half.

Brown sees his old team

Brown faced the Celtics for the first time since the offseason trade that sent him to Philadelphia. He scored 20 points with eight rebounds and was the only Sixers starter to play into the fourth quarter. He averaged 20 points over three preseason games and shot 58% from the field.

Coach Nick Nurse held out rookie VJ Edgecombe after he played the first three preseason games. "He played three and we had a pretty tough week of practice and I just wanted to hold him out for one today," Nurse said.

Boston's bench stays perfect

Sam Cassell coached the Celtics, who started Milos Uzan, Hayden Gray, Tucker DeVries, Gabe McGlothan and rookie Chris Cenac Jr. Hugo Gonzalez led Boston with 21 points and all 12 Celtics who played scored. Rookie Dillon Mitchell hit a three and threw down a fast-break dunk in overtime before Uzan sealed it with a late midrange jumper.

The win gave Boston a 4-0 preseason record.
