Jared Verse says he was upset Browns teammates did not defend him against the Steelers
Jared Verse said the missing reaction from Browns teammates after a Steelers lineman slammed him upset him and that he took it to the locker room.

Jared Verse wanted his teammates to have his back. He says they did not.
The Browns defensive end said Wednesday that he spoke to the locker room about the missing reaction after Steelers guard Mason McCormick was penalized for slamming him on a point-after try in Sunday's loss at Pittsburgh.
McCormick was flagged for sweeping the legs of a leaping Verse and throwing him to the ground.

"The lack of reaction by those around me upset me a lot," Verse said. He said a similar play happened to Derek Barnett on the next field goal and that he lost it because those players are his brothers and his teammates. "And when you do something like that to him, it upsets me very deeply."
"That's a conversation that we've had and spoken about," Verse said. "I've made my issues known about the situation, but also I didn't put them in a position to let them know beforehand I was going to talk the way I talked to the Steelers and Steelers Nation or whatever they are. I got to be better than that. I didn't do enough on my part. We all got to pick it up."
Verse had talked a big game before the Week 8 trip, including a line that the Browns planned on "making Pittsburgh ours."
On Monday, coach Todd Monken said the message was that the Browns needed to "speak with your play."
"I don't think it's any secret that I like to talk," Verse said. "I like to attack things. I like to be verbal in the way I play, the way I talk, the way I move around and everything." He said he could have invited his teammates in and told them what he was about to do. "I think that's just how I am."
