Jalen Brunson swapped the hardwood for a squad room on Thursday night when his long-teased cameo on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" finally aired.

The Knicks point guard appeared as Detective Jay Madison in the episode "Forsaken." His moment comes around the 20-minute mark and lasts about a minute — he is leaning on a pizza shop counter with a slice when Mariska Hargitay's Captain Olivia Benson strolls in looking for answers.

Fans with sharp eyes caught a bonus cameo too. Brunson's father Rick wanders into the pizzeria just ahead of Benson. Rick played for the Knicks team that captured the East in 1999 and later joined the coaching staff in 2022 before winning a title next to his son.

The clue that cracked it

Benson opens the chat by praising Madison on a fresh promotion. He answers with a wink at the Knicks championship run: "Thanks, Captain. Focused on my goals. Gave 110% and things worked out."

The squad is probing the assault of a teen girl at a family wedding. Madison tells Benson he stopped the girl's stepfather and stepbrother in a car and spotted a metal self-defense keychain on the younger man but let it go as a "legal gray area." That small detail steers Benson to the stepbrother who ends up in cuffs.

Brunson stayed stone-faced through the scene and did not return later in the hour. Asked how it went he kept it simple: "Really fun. A lot of fun."

It marks his first turn in a scripted drama. He already hosted the "Saturday Night Live" Season 52 opener in September after steering New York to its first title in 53 years. Hargitay is a fixture courtside at Madison Square Garden — she even rode the championship parade float — and the pair filmed a taped bit for the Emmys she hosted two months ago.
