The Jacksonville Jaguars are playing in London for the second straight Sunday, but do not expect three overseas home games next year.

Team president Mark Lamping said Saturday that the Jaguars are unlikely to use the full option of three international home games in 2027 while the $1.4 billion renovation of EverBank Stadium goes on.

"But the likelihood of three games in 2027, I think it's remote," Lamping said.

Why the option exists

The team's deal with the city of Jacksonville allows up to three international home games in 2027. The rest of that year's home games will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Lamping said the team wanted that flexibility when it still did not know whether it would play in Gainesville or Orlando during construction. In Gainesville, some weekends might have been unavailable.

Home again in 2028

The renovated stadium is set to open for the 2028 season. Lamping said it would be natural to play every home game in Jacksonville that year but that it depends on what the NFL wants. Owner Shad Khan said a full home schedule in Jacksonville is the goal.

Every NFL team gives up one home game every four years to be played abroad. Lamping said that could happen more often if the league moves to an 18-game schedule.

Two London home games this season

The Jaguars beat the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday and face the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium this Sunday. They have two London home games this year because of an agreement with the NFL to move up an international game they were due to play in 2030.

Jacksonville has played 15 games in London since 2013. Eleven were at Wembley and four were at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
