Donald Trump Jr. reportedly pushed back on the Iran war in private talks with his father
Two people who spoke with Donald Trump Jr. say he has objected to the Iran conflict from day one and told the president so while backing him in public.

In public Donald Trump Jr. rarely strays from his father's side. A new report suggests his private view of the war with Iran is a very different story.
What the report says
The Atlantic spoke with two people who say they discussed the conflict directly with the president's eldest son. Both told the magazine he has objected to the fighting more than once.
According to those sources, his opposition dates back to the very beginning of the war. They also say he shared those doubts with his father himself.
Keeping it quiet
Someone close to Trump Jr. told the outlet that he keeps his feelings on Iran to himself. That person said he "would never publicly break with his dad" on a matter like this one.
The same person added that friends would not be shocked to learn where he stands on the subject.
The magazine's sources said he did not want the United States pulled into yet another Middle East war. They also pointed to his close friendship with the late Charlie Kirk, who was against the Iran war before his death.
No comment from his camp
A spokesman for Trump Jr. would not comment on the report. The White House also sidestepped questions about the president's son.
A White House official did offer a statement on the war itself. The official claimed Iran had been devastated and predicted the fighting would end very soon one way or another.
