Diego Gómez scores from 56 yards as Brighton routs Crystal Palace 5-0
Diego Gómez caught Walter Benítez off his line from near halfway for the longest Premier League goal since 2017 as Brighton beat Crystal Palace 5-0.

Diego Gómez saw the goalkeeper off his line and did not think twice.
The Paraguay international won the ball back near the halfway line and scored from 56 yards Sunday as Brighton crushed Crystal Palace 5-0 at home in Brighton, England.
The longest goal in years
Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez was caught well off his line as the ball sailed over him. It was the farthest a Premier League goal has been scored from since Wayne Rooney scored for Everton against West Ham almost nine years ago.
It was also Gómez's first goal of the season.
Three goals in 10 minutes
Brighton was already ahead after an early own goal by Jaydee Canvot. Gómez made it 2-0 and Yasin Ayari scored moments later for a 3-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes.
Brighton is the ninth team in Premier League history to score three goals in the first 10 minutes of a game. Tottenham and Manchester City share the record after both went up 3-0 in the seventh minute.
No letup after halftime
Charalampos Kostoulas and Jack Hinshelwood scored in the second half to finish off the rout.
Brighton's 23 goals are the most in the Premier League this season. Its five goals allowed are tied for the fewest. Only three teams have scored more than 23 goals through seven games of a Premier League season.
The win moved Brighton provisionally ahead of second-place Arsenal, which faces Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
