Thunder's Chet Holmgren out 8 to 10 weeks with a patellar tendon tear, the third OKC starter lost this week
Thunder big man Chet Holmgren will miss 8 to 10 weeks with a small tear in his right patellar tendon. He is the third OKC starter hurt this week.

The Oklahoma City Thunder took another big hit Friday night. Star big man Chet Holmgren will miss eight to 10 weeks with a tear in the patellar tendon of his right knee, the team said.
Holmgren is the third Thunder starter ruled out for an extended stretch this week. Forward Jalen Williams has a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle. Guard Cason Wallace has a torn labrum.
Holmgren felt mild discomfort in his right knee Sunday. That was the same day Williams and Wallace were hurt in a game against the Clippers.
A "small" tear
Holmgren met with specialists after the game. The team decided to perform a "biological treatment" on Friday to address what its news release called a "small" tear.
An eight to 10 week absence would keep the 7-footer out until around the new year.
Another setback
It is the third significant injury for Holmgren since Oklahoma City took him with the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft.
He missed the entire 2022-23 season after breaking his foot weeks after the draft. He also missed a few months of the 2024-25 season with a fractured pelvis before returning to play a key role in the Thunder's championship run.
Last season Holmgren averaged 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He made the All-Defensive first team and the All-NBA third team.
Updates on Williams and Wallace
The Thunder also said Wallace had surgery Friday and will be reevaluated before the end of the regular season.
Williams had surgery Wednesday and will also be reevaluated before the season ends, the team said earlier.
