Brewers beat the Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to win the first World Series title in franchise history
Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings and Cooper Pratt drove in two as Milwaukee closed out Tampa Bay for its first championship.

The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time. Milwaukee beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field to win the series four games to one.
Thousands of Brewers fans filled the seats behind the Milwaukee dugout. They got to watch closer Trevor Megill get Richie Palacios to ground out to second for the final out. Megill threw his arms in the air and was mobbed by his teammates.
"It's the best feeling ever. All of our fans are here. I know the city's waited a long, long time for this," captain Christian Yelich said. "We're so happy to bring it home to them. I can't wait to get back there and celebrate."
How Milwaukee won it
Young ace Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits. He left with a cramp in his right calf and walked off to a standing ovation.
Rookie Cooper Pratt drove in the first run with a single off Rays ace Drew Rasmussen in the second inning. Pratt singled again in the fifth and scored on a David Hamilton single. William Contreras doubled in a run in the sixth and Pratt added a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.
JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Megill finished it. Chandler Simpson's RBI double in the ninth was the only run the Rays scored.
A long wait ends
The title comes in the 58th season for a franchise that began as the Seattle Pilots in 1969. The Brewers' only other trip to the World Series in 1982 ended with a Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Principal owner Mark Attanasio reminded the crowd on the postgame stage that the city had waited 44 years. "Milwaukee, you have your world championship," he said.
Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games this season and went 11-2 in the postseason. Along the way they beat the San Diego Padres and swept the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
