Keisha Lance Bottoms taps Tyler Perry for her Georgia governor transition team
The governor-elect named the film mogul to a transition team called Georgia's Promise that also includes Arthur Blank and Rosalind Brewer.

Georgia Governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms has brought Tyler Perry onto the team that will prepare her administration for its first day in office. The studio founder joins a roster stacked with business leaders and longtime public servants.
Bottoms made history on Tuesday as the first Black woman elected governor of any state. She is calling the handoff effort Georgia's Promise and said the work of keeping that promise begins well before inauguration day.
A team built to govern on day one
Perry runs one of the largest film production campuses in the country on a former Army base in southwest Atlanta. His studio has drawn major productions and jobs to the city for years.
He is joined by Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank and former Walgreens chief executive Rosalind Brewer who also served as interim president of Spelman College. Former state senator Jason Carter, a grandson of President Jimmy Carter, made the list along with civic leader Michelle Nunn.
Several familiar faces from her time as Atlanta mayor are back too. They include former chief operating officers John King and Richard Cox, former chief of staff Carmen Chubb and Vicky Palmer who led her mayoral transition.
Honorary members and a smooth handoff
U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are among the honorary members. Former state Rep. Rashad Taylor, who led Atlanta's first equity office, rounds out the core group.
Bottoms said her goal is simple: be ready to lead from the first hour. Outgoing Gov. Brian Kemp has promised a smooth transfer of power and said he will not call a special session before she takes office.
Her win capped a remarkable week for Black women in politics with historic victories in races across the country.
