A Bexar County detention deputy is out of work after photos of her posing with jail inmates hit social media.

How she lost the job

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office dismissed Detention Deputy Karla Beltran on Monday. She had started on July 1 and was still inside the one-year probationary window when the department used its probationary dismissal policy.

She had been on the job for roughly 100 days.

What the photos show

In one image Beltran stands in front of a window raising both middle fingers while female inmates appear behind the glass. Other shots show her and the prisoners making hand gestures together.

It is not clear why she posed for the pictures. Under department rules a detention deputy can be let go during that probation year for falling short of required standards.
