No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa scored 17 in his home debut while Trae Young and Anthony Davis led Washington past Charlotte 95-79 in the NBA Cup.

Washington fans finally got their first home look at AJ Dybantsa and liked what they saw. The No. 1 overall pick scored 17 points in his home debut as the Wizards routed the Charlotte Hornets 95-79 in an NBA Cup game Friday night.
Trae Young led Washington with 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Anthony Davis had 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Dybantsa missed the start of the season with an ankle injury. He finally made his debut Wednesday with 19 points in a loss at Cleveland.
MVP chants for a 19-year-old
The rookie looked calm again in front of the home crowd. He had a strong putback in the fourth quarter wiped out by a basket interference call. A few moments later he switched hands on a drive and banked in a shot while getting fouled.
That play brought the crowd to its feet with chants of "MVP! MVP!" for the 19-year-old.
Charlotte goes cold
The bigger story was Charlotte's shooting. The Hornets led by 10 in the first quarter after a 4-for-10 start from 3-point range. They then made just four of their next 29 tries from deep.
Charlotte finished at 29.7% from the field and 12 of 56 from beyond the arc. Washington held the Hornets to 13 points in the third quarter to take control.
The Hornets now own the two lowest-scoring games in the NBA this season. They also scored 81 in a loss to Atlanta on Oct. 23.
Brandon Miller led Charlotte with 19 points. Naz Reid was back in the starting lineup and had 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Hornets are still without Kon Knueppel, Coby White and Grant Williams.
Charlotte hosts Philadelphia on Saturday night. Washington visits Orlando on Monday.
